Run by Lauren Williams, one of the youngest fully qualified DSA Aprroved Driving Instructors in the country, driving the latest dual-controlled Ford Fiesta.

We offer a free pick-up and drop-off service with no other pupils in the car.

Based in Newtown, Powys on the Mid-Wales/shropshire borders, Roadmaster Driving Academy teaches pupils from all the surrounding areas.


“Start at 16″ Young Drivers Scheme.

Roadmaster’s “Start at 16 Scheme” gives young people a chance to develop the essential driving skills they will need when they turn 17 in a safe environment.

The aim of “Start at 16″ is to change young drivers attitude to road safety, making them more mature drivers and giving them greater awareness and respect for the dangers on the road. so the lessons include activities on:

Ready to start driving checklist.

Are you 17 or over and not disqualified from driving?

Have you got your provisional licence?

Pick up a form from the Post Office or apply online.

  • It can take up to two weeks to receive your licence and currently costs £50 so apply in good time.
  • Please bring your licence to your first lesson.

Is your eyesight up to the legal standard?

  • You need to be able to read a new-style number plate (one that starts with a double letter eg AB01 XYZ) from 20 metres, or an old=style number plate from 20.5 metres. If you have any doubts, go to an optician. the examiner will check and you will fail without getting in the car if you cannot pass the eyesight test.
